Dawn Goodes MSMA

Sports Massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Dawn Goodes

In 2005 Dawn had the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy from a boring office job and used the proceeds to retrain in sports massage. After an intensive 6 month training course through the YMCA (course supplied by SPS Ltd) she qualified as a level four sports massage practitioner. The course included training in anatomy and physiology, energy systems, principles of training, the inflammation process and it required the completion of 100 practice hours (which had to include clients from all age groups) and six case studies.

Once qualified, Dawn became a full member of the Sports Massage Association, who work to regulate and raise the profile of sports massage and keep their members up to date with the latest research and information. Each member is required to complete 40 hours of continuous professional development per year to keep their skills current and to enhance their knowledge.

Dawn has treated marathon runners, body builders and golfers, as well as clients who aren't sporty but want the benefit of relieving the stresses and strains of modern life.

In 2009, Dawn trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and began offering it at the clinic. This is a relaxing massage which can be useful for those with a sluggish lymphatic system or who are feeling a bit run down.
